Motor Shows are popular events for car enthusiasts and can also act as a great outing for all the family. Make sure you know that the Motor Show you visit is suitable for your needs and has some of the cars and events that are of interest to you.
Bug Jam
Hailed as the UK’s biggest and best Volkswagen festival, the annual Bug Jam has been running for over 20 years. Held near Bedford at the Santa Pod Raceway, the Bug Jam is a weekend event which provides entertainment, racing and camping. Highlights of the show include Volkswagen drag racing, comedy shows, top DJ’s based in 4 music arenas and Volkswagen traders. The RWYB (Run What Ya Brung) is also an activity not to be missed as you are given the chance to race your own Volkswagen on the drag strip. The show also hosts a Show and Shine competition which gives you the chance to see some of the UK’s top Volkswagens compete to win titles such as Best Nostalgia Car and Best Race Car.
Max Power Live
Max Power Live is an annual event held at the Birmingham NEC hailed as ‘The fastest, loudest car show ever’. The event boasts many modified and ICE cars and is a real event for the boys. Max Power has become famed for its babes and with an Access All Areas pass to the show you can meet and greet your very own babe in the babe area – past babes have included Jordan, Keeley, Lucy Pinder and Michelle Marsh. The show is also home to the Max Power Babe Competition, a live contest to decide which babe is hottest. For those more interested in the cars than the women though there is much to be seen including stunt driving shows and the 100 top cars in Britain. You will also find many stands and exhibits at the show from the top manufacturers and providers of car modifying accessories as well as manufacturers of clothing, gadgets and computer games.
British International Motor Show
Originally held at Earl’s Court in London, the British International Motor Show was moved to the NEC in Birmingham in the 1980’s. 2006 saw the return of the show to the capital and the event was held in the Excel Exhibition Centre in the Docklands. Events at the show include the Dock Rock; a pre-show musical extravaganza, the motor theatre; a full blown car love escapade and on water entertainment. A new addition to the show includes The Adventure Land, a 4x4 adventure zone which allows you to take the passenger seat as you get driven on a quest through the zone. The show is also home to exciting cars, new releases, prototypes and over 200 exhibiters selling a variety of goods and services.
Motor Show North East
Held at Herrington Country Park in Sunderland, the Motor Show North East is an annual event and said to be the biggest motor show in the UK to take place outside of the capital. Highlights of the show include a display of ICE and modified cars, monster trucks, vintage and collector cars. The event is also home to trade stands selling a variety of products including stereos, quads, bikes, in car gadgets, motor homes, accessories and personalised number plates. You should also take the opportunity if visiting the motor show to see the stunt riders perform in the parks amphitheatre.
